Cordyceps: attack of the killer fungi

By in Creation, Everything is Spiritual, Nature

An abstract virus plot in a newly-spawned Hollywood movie bent on accumulating absurd amounts of revenue . . . or the nature channel? Destructive fungi burrowing their way into a jungle ant’s head, attaching to the mind of the ant and manipulating the brain so that it gets an uncanny urge to climb up to a high place and die. Sound absurd? It is, rather.

Once the fungi has entered the containing host and reached the right maturity, it literally tears from their head and turns them into an icy statue of insect proportions.

Not only that, another type of parasite actually attaches itself to the brain of the insect and makes it develop a ludicrous desire to find water, throw itself in and drown so that the parasite can escape.

Kind of reminds me of the subtlety of sin. The way it enters seems harmless enough, but the consequences of the end result are always, well, death.

Don't you have sudden urges to jump into water sometimes? You better make sure you don't have a parasite…
