From the dictionary of Stephen:

2. neither good nor bad in character or quality; average; routine: an indifferent specimen.
3. not making a difference, or mattering, one way or the other.
3. the quality or condition of being indifferent
4. mediocre quality; mediocrity

Virus Properties:
-It is contagious
-The majority of its victims being youth and young people
-It is stifling
-It is a killer of joy
-It is a carrier of the disease apathy

The main symptoms of the virus include:
-Boredom
-Stagnation
-Extreme tiredness
-Frustration at everything
-Frustration at nothing
-Lack of motivation
-Lack of thankfulness

It eats away at people all over the world every day. Boredom, lack of motivation, stagnation, these are all extremely common surface symptoms of the sameface virus. Nothing excites you, you’ve seen it all before and simple things that you once to think the world of, you now consider mundane.

Everyone is capable of being afflicted by it, but the majority of its victims are of course, the youth. We have been given so much for so little a price, that taking it for granted isn’t a tough task.

You know, if the enemy’s primary objective could be simplified down to one thing, I am positive it would be to make Christians worldwide so burnt out that they fall asleep spiritually. The main effect of the Sameface virus is just this, feeling like your expressions never change and everything you see and put your hands to is of little value to anyone. You constantly feel as if you want to curl up and sleep; motivation evades you like the alarm switch next to your bed.

If the cause of the virus could be put down to one thing, it would have to be routine. Routine simply drowns perspective, by keeping your eyes firmly fixed downwards on the ground in front of you.

Breaking the control of the virus off your life is pretty simple really – healthy living habits, healthy spiritual habits, deliberately going out of your way to do something you would normally consider too risky. Breaking the ordinary usually makes you realise just how blessed you are when you come back to normality.

In the words of Relient K

“I just want to get mugged at knifepoint
to get cut enough to wake me up
cause I know that I don’t want to die
sitting around watching my life go by
and what we take from this is what we’ll get and we haven’t quite figured it out just yet
because all of us are all too stuck
strapped to a chair watching our lives blow up
stuck watching our lives blow up
